Handicat – sailing for everyone

 The Handicat is a non-profit foundation. Handicat operates sailing activities for persons disabled in different ways (in movement, visual impairment, mental retardation etc.).

The Handicat is a joint venture between the Swedish Catamaran and Trimaran Sailors Ass. (SCTS), the Sports Association for All Handicapped (IFAH) and Fryshuset. At the Board of the Handicat foundation you find persons with sailing experience, some of them disabled. The project has got economic support from The Swedish Inheritance Fund (Arvsfonden) and other funds and companies. Our target groups are persons, families with disabilities and organisations for handicapped persons.  Regardless of their lack of previous sailing experience they are welcome to come and sail with us. Handicat will give them a possibility to experience the true freedom of sailing. For this they don´t need to be sailing experts. We supply them not only with the boat, but also with a captain with crew and, if needed, assistants. However, on board everyone will be given a task according to her/his ability. To steer, to hoist sails, to navigate and so on.
